Using a strategy developed by Children’s Cup, we begin the process of identifying and helping vulnerable children through providing free, hot meals before school for any child. Children register for the meals, and records of their attendance are kept. Those who return consistently for meals become eligible for sponsorship, which is assessed by need. Emoyeni provides access to medical care, mentoring, homework help and school funding for sponsored children.
Feeding Points are kitchens and distribution sites built by Emoyeni at local schools and churches, where hungry children can receive hot meals before going to school. Some sites provide two meals a day.
Care Points are full-service sites, where children are not only fed, but can also receive other benefits of sponsorship.
Our Feeding Points and Care Points include:
In partnership with Children’s Cup, we are currently running 13 sites, feeding over 1,000 children daily.
In preparation for the opening of our first Care Point, we took two ladies to Swaziland for training as Care Point Facilitators. These two ladies have a heart to serve and help young people.
Our initial goal is to start a free preschool program for children who are unable to afford a local preschool. We will run tutoring programs for school children and Youth Clubs twice a week. Our 9 volunteers at present should soon increase to about 20.
